This Man Makes Every Day a Catwalk

Fashion is a touchy subject, and mostly bullshit. High fashion especially is all about making a statement artistically. Whether it’s a $600 trash bag T-shirt from Kanye, or toddlers dressed up in BDSM Gear from Balenciaga they want people to talk about it. It’s always looking to make waves in the media, especially for idiots with deep pockets and terrible personalities. Fashion popularity usually starts with the piece of clothing and rarely the person actually in it. Recently though it has taken a change. Mark Bryan is a loving husband I think, father of three, and a fashion trend setter. Like Dennis Rodman, Young Thug, Jared Leto, Prince, Harry Styles, and just about any rocker from the 80’s, Mark is paving the way for genderless fashion. His signature look is rocking a classic button down shirt, skirt and heels. More power to you Mark.

Where efficiency meets elegance

I think it is a step in the right direction for whatever vague direction we’re going in as a society. I have yet to experience the freedom of a skirt but I think with some trial an error I can get on board with it. My inner Sharon Stone from Basic Instinct would certainly take a hold of my mentality the second I toss one on and strut into a business meeting. I find that to be more of a personal issue more than anything though. That’s not the point though, the important thing is Mark is making the waves fashion needs right now. He is tearing down the metaphorical crotch area that separates mens pants from women’s skirts. I applaud the progress he has made, and his confidence but it comes with a shift in social dynamic. It’s always positive when someone breaks a glass ceiling but it also leaves a bunch of shards of glass all over the floor for the rest of us sitting in the living room.

The roles of mom and dad haven’t changed in their home I assume but definitely the energy of it has. With this change in parenting aura comes a variety of fresh psychological stressors. Kids will be kids, and I’m banking on the fact that at one point in time they’ve gotten in big trouble, either in or out of school. Like most houses they probably got initially ripped into by their mother, and then they got those dreadful words, just wait until your father gets home and hears about this! Maybe it’s a little old school, but your father is the next level of punishment in the house and it has to be truly serious when Dad gets involved.

Just think about being one of these kids anxiously sitting in their room waiting for Dad to get home to hear about the trouble they caused today. The murmurs of your mom to your dad start as he gets in door from a long day of work and the anxiety builds. You can’t make out exactly what they’re saying but you can hear the frustration build in both their voices. Then to hear the short stride of his hard stiletos clicking on the hardwood stairs as he comes closer and closer to the room. A dad in heels doesn’t hand out physical punishment, no thats far too easy. It’s a PSYOP to him, and he will break you alone on a power stance in a mini skirt paired with an icy glare. The normality of punishments is out the window. He considers your damnation on a spectrum from either making you sleep in the concrete crawl space in the basement or wheel you off for a electro shock therapy. The thought alone is too much for me to bear, so my heart goes out to his children. Im sure they are well behaved.

Maybe thats a little played out by me but maybe it’s not. Either way its Mark’s life and we are all just watching a man do whats rare in society which is finding his unique way to be happy. If you are man I encourage you to throw on a skirt or dress for a day and see if you become empowered. Same goes for the ladies find yourself a nice pair of cargo shorts and a shirt that has odd stains on it and let us know how it goes for you. Fashion is fashion make what you want of it, whats cool now is garbage in ten years, then nostalgia in another five. So who gives a shit.
